DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
The Technical Director will be Texas HERO's lead technical and training officer, responsible for developing and maintaining technical standards and guidelines, developing and conducting training, and conducting quality assurance reviews of auditors, audits and contractors. Prepare training presentations and manuals. Training venues will include both classroom and field settings. Oversee scheduling of training. Conduct training. Track training participation and quality improvement, and energy audit program results. Respond timely to phone and email correspondence and technical inquiries. Consult and coordinate with RESNET and other standards setting organizations to enhance the value and market effectiveness of Texas HERO programs. Obtain certification of training by RESNET and continuing education credit by others as appropriate. May be assigned to manage staff or contractors for training, development or consulting activities.
EDUCATION/TRAINING QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution or equivalent work experience. RESNET certifications as Home Energy Rater, qualified for Quality Assurance. Coursework, training or research in building science.
EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum of five years experience in construction and/or home energy ratings, residential inspection for energy code compliance, energy performance contracting, or related research. Supervisory experience preferred. Adult education experience preferred.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS REQUIRED
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Knowledge of building science; whole house performance assessment; operation and calibration of performance testing equipment and diagnostic tools; and basic construction math
- Thorough knowledge of RESNET Technical Standards
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret professional journals, technical procedures and government regulations
- Ability to organize technical material for presentation to adult audiences
- Ability to demonstrate proper use of test equipment and tools

Requirements

Experience:
8-10 years experience in Engineering
5 years successfully managing an engineering team
Qualifications:
- Possess a comprehensive knowledge of engineering, materials, construction methodology, building codes and regulations
- Experience in corporate, higher education, healthcare, data centers, high rise hotels, apartments and condominiums up to six stories as well as call centers is desired.
- Possess a thorough knowledge of design and production procedures and processes as well as internal quality assurance processes
